My Take on the Cory/Ninoy Biopic

According to the news yesterday, there were four possible candidates for the role of Cory Aquino, and here’s what I think about them:

1. Vilma Santos

She, in my opinion, is the right person to do the job. COry wasn’t a pupular figure in the Philippines until in her 50′s, when her husband was shot dead at the Manila International Airport. Ate Vi herself is a public servant, so she understands the role very well and I know she wouldn’t disappoint. And the first fundamental thing about biopics is that at least, YOU HAVE TO LOOK LIKE THE PERSON YOU’RE PORTRAYING. Done and Done.

2. Kris Aquino

Bakit ka pa nga ba lalayo, kung nadiyan na si Kris? Though she may inherited most of her looks from her father, when you look at earlier photos and videos of Cory, Kris looks very much like her mother. Want proof? Here.

See? Pagtanda ni Kris…Queen Cory II siya. (O why not Ballsy play her mom? LOL)

3. Maricel Soriano

Hmmm, I know she wouldn’t disappoint, but I still have doubts…

4. Claudine Barretto.

Too young. Kahit magkasing puti sila ni Cory, no way.

As for Ninoy, there are two names making a lot of noise, both of which I don’t prefer for the Ninoy role: Piolo Pascual and Cesar Montano. Piolo is too demure for Ninoy and Cesar has too much heroism (i.e he already portrayed Rizal, kamukha na niya si Lapu-Lapu, tapos Ninoy pa. No Way!)

For my pick, I’d say it will be Christoper De Leon.
